DESCRIPTION
Caravaggio pulled his saints in off the street. Real feet, dirty and cracked, on figures the Church expected to be idealised — lit by a single hard light that leaves most of the canvas in darkness. He invented a way of seeing that painters are still borrowing four hundred years later, and photographers and cinematographers after them.
He also killed a man in Rome in 1606 and spent his last years moving between cities ahead of the sentence, dying at 38 on a beach in Tuscany. The light in the paintings and the chaos of the life are hard to separate.
Printed to order in holographic silk PLA, 15 cm tall. The iridescence shifts with light and viewing angle, and no two pieces come out identical — filament variation and the printing process itself see to that. Made in France, dispatched in 2-5 business days.
The image shown is a digital visualization of the artwork; a 360° view of an actual printed sculpture is available on the site. An original artistic interpretation by designer and visual artist Antonio de Santos, not affiliated with or endorsed by the subject or their estate.
