DESCRIPTION
From a consulting room at Berggasse 19 in Vienna, Freud proposed that most of what drives a person is not available to them for inspection. Whether or not the theory holds, the vocabulary stuck: the unconscious, repression, the slip of the tongue, the idea that a dream is worth interrogating. He also invented the couch, the fifty-minute hour, and the modern habit of explaining oneself.
He fled to London in 1938 after the Anschluss, and died there the following year — a smoker of twenty cigars a day, undone by the jaw.
Printed to order in holographic silk PLA, 15 cm tall. The iridescence shifts with light and viewing angle, and no two pieces come out identical — filament variation and the printing process itself see to that. Made in France, dispatched in 2-5 business days.
The image shown is a digital visualization of the artwork; a 360° view of an actual printed sculpture is available on the site. An original artistic interpretation by designer and visual artist Antonio de Santos, not affiliated with or endorsed by the subject or their estate.
