DESCRIPTION
Six poems from Les Fleurs du mal were banned by a French court in 1857 for offending public morals. Baudelaire paid the fine and kept writing. He gave us the flâneur, the idea of modernity as something to be looked at closely, and a body of verse that treats beauty and decay as the same subject seen from two angles. He also spent years translating Poe, line by obsessive line.
He died in Paris at 46, after a stroke took his speech — the poet of the city left without the one thing he had built his life from.
Printed to order in holographic silk PLA, 15 cm tall. The iridescence shifts with light and viewing angle, and no two pieces come out identical — filament variation and the printing process itself see to that. Made in France, dispatched in 2-5 business days.
The image shown is a digital visualization of the artwork; a 360° view of an actual printed sculpture is available on the site. An original artistic interpretation by designer and visual artist Antonio de Santos, not affiliated with or endorsed by the subject or their estate.
